Public Education & Information
At ONS – K, we are committed to advancing the fight against cancer through awareness, education, and community engagement. Our members are readily available to partner with various groups—including corporate organizations, faith-based communities such as churches and mosques, schools, social clubs, and the general public—to provide vital information on cancer prevention, early detection, treatment options, care, and rehabilitation. Through tailored outreach programs and collaborative initiatives, we aim to empower individuals and communities with the knowledge and support they need to reduce cancer risks and improve health outcomes.
The Oncology Nurses Society of Kenya (ONS-K) is a professional organization committed to strengthening cancer care services in Kenya through education, advocacy, and community engagement. Comprising experienced and passionate oncology nurses from across the country, ONS-K plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between clinical care and community awareness by offering expert-led programs focused on cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, palliative care, and rehabilitation.
Our members are readily available to partner with corporate organizations, churches, mosques, schools, youth groups, women’s associations, men’s forums, and other social or community-based groups to deliver tailored educational sessions, health talks, awareness campaigns, and cancer screening drives. These outreach initiatives are designed to demystify cancer, reduce stigma, promote healthy lifestyles, and empower individuals with the knowledge to recognize warning signs and seek timely care. We also provide targeted support on survivorship and caregiving, ensuring that families and communities are equipped to walk the cancer journey with dignity and resilience.
Through these collaborative efforts, ONS-K contributes meaningfully to Kenya’s National Cancer Control Strategy (2023–2027) by promoting early intervention, access to quality care, and continuity of support, especially in underserved regions. Our approach emphasizes evidence-based practice, cultural sensitivity, and the strategic mobilization of resources to build cancer-smart communities.
We invite institutions, organizations, and community leaders to partner with us in this vital mission. Together, we can create a healthier Kenya through increased awareness, improved care, and sustained community empowerment.
