The Oncology Nurses Society of Kenya (ONS-K) is a professional association dedicated to advancing the practice of oncology nursing and promoting quality cancer care across the country.
The Oncology Nursing Society of Kenya (ONS-K) is the national professional body representing oncology nurses in Kenya. Formerly Oncology Nurses Chapter – Kenya (ONC-K) under NNAK, ONS-K transitioned into an independent society to empower, advocate for, and advance oncology nursing practice across the country.
ONS-K is dedicated to enhancing cancer care by fostering evidence-based practice, professional development, research, leadership, and policy advocacy. The society brings together oncology nurses from all 47 counties, working across prevention, treatment, survivorship, and palliative care, ensuring patients receive high-quality, compassionate care.

The Oncology Nurses Society of Kenya (ONS-K) is dedicated to advancing the practice of oncology nursing and promoting quality cancer care across the country. Established by a passionate group of nurses, ONS-K brings together oncology professionals from diverse healthcare settings to share knowledge, advocate for patients, strengthen cancer prevention and treatment strategies, and influence policy. Through training, mentorship, research, and community engagement, the Society empowers nurses to play a central role in the fight against cancer—ensuring that every patient receives compassionate, evidence-based care. ONS-K also collaborates with national and international partners to drive innovation and build a resilient oncology workforce in line with Kenya’s National Cancer Control Strategy.

The Oncology Nurses Society–Kenya is led by a dedicated and experienced team of professionals committed to advancing oncology nursing practice and improving cancer care outcomes across the country. Drawing from diverse expertise in clinical practice, research, education, and policy, the leadership team plays a vital role in guiding the Society’s vision and strategic direction.
Through their collective experience and passion, the team works to strengthen professional development, promote evidence-based care, and foster collaboration among oncology nurses and healthcare stakeholders. Their leadership continues to drive impactful initiatives that support patients, empower nurses, and contribute to national cancer control efforts.
The Current Leadership Team

Roselyn Okumu
President ONS-K
Ms. Roselyne Okumu is the current Chair of the Oncology Nurses Chapter –Kenya, and a member of, NNAK, KESHO AORTIC and Africa Oncology Nurses Network.
Additionally, she is the Nurse Manager at the Cancer Treatment Centre (CTC), Kenyatta National Hospital.

Florence Kandie Kimuge

Florence Kandie Kimuge is a registered oncology nurse specialist with over 23 years of diverse clinical experience, including 6 years in oncology and 1 year of hands-on experience in radiotherapy nursing. She currently serves as a Chief Nursing Officer at the Chandaria Cancer Centre, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, and a part-time tutor at the MTRH College of Medicine.

Josephine Rutto

Oncology Nurse Specialist | Leader | Advocate
With a solid foundation a Diploma in Nursing (KRCHN), a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, and specialized training in oncology Josephine currently leads the Oncology Outpatient Department at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH). In this capacity, she oversees patient-centered care, leads a multidisciplinary team, and mentors fellow nurses to uphold excellence in cancer treatment and support.

Stacy Halonda

Joystacy Mutegi is an Oncology Nurse specialist with experience in patient care, research, training and policy.
She graduated with Bachelors of Nursing from Kenya Methodist University, acquired a higher diploma in Oncology Nursing from Aga Khan University and a Masters in Oncology Nursing from the University of Nairobi.
