Blood Donation Drive 2024 CSR

We stand out as a practical example of community-centered health intervention!

Kenya’s 2023–2027 National Cancer Control Strategy highlights the vital role of partnerships and resource mobilization in achieving effective, equitable cancer control. Central to the strategy is the emphasis on building multisectoral collaborations that bridge the gap between public institutions, private sector stakeholders, and civil society organizations. In alignment with this national framework, the Oncology Nurses Society of Kenya’s (ONS-K) 2024 blood-donation CSR drive stands out as a practical example of community-centered health intervention. By organizing voluntary blood drives—particularly in under-resourced areas—ONS-K not only helps replenish critical blood supplies for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, surgery, or radiation but also strengthens the culture of donation within the general population. These initiatives serve dual purposes: they directly enhance patient outcomes while simultaneously reinforcing national efforts to reduce cancer mortality through accessible and quality care. Furthermore, by engaging local county governments, hospitals, the Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service (KNBTS), and grassroots organizations, ONS-K demonstrates how professional nursing leadership can be a driving force in forging sustainable, impactful public–private partnerships in healthcare provision.
